From the Archive: Bobby Messano at Vinyl Revival
Some rooms just fit a player. Vinyl Revival was one of them, and the marquee said it plain: Bobby Messano, July 20–21, at Vinyl Revival.
Messano is a veteran blues-rock guitarist — decades of major-league sideman work and a string of well-regarded blues records under his own name. But sit him on a stool with an acoustic, a vocal mic, and a rack of guitars behind him, and the résumé stops mattering. What's left is a player working the room the old way: no production between him and the audience, just hands, wood, and wire.
These shots come straight out of the WPHL archive — the kind of night this station exists to document. Local rooms, real players, no filter. If you were there, you know. If you weren't, this is why you check the marquee.
